Analysis: Taxmeifyoucan began well from his wide barrier (15) but was trapped three wide without cover. He raced midfield before improving wide out on straightening, where he was giving the leader about six lengths. He put in a strong finishing run, taking the lead at the 150m and then drew away to win by just over a length in fast time (1:21.86). Lunar Rise had a good run about seventh on the rails but was shuffled back to be near last at the turn. He got a run through on straightening, switched out at the 300m and finished well for a good second. Chewychop was fourth most of the way to the turn, challenged at the 200m then fought on nicely for a sound third. The filly Impetuous was near last at the turn, got a run through at the 200m and ran on very well for a very good fourth, just beating home Ninth Legion (fifth) and Ashokan (sixth) who both seemed to have every chance. The previously unbeaten Missy Cummings was fifth on the rails to the turn but dropped out in the straight, racing well below her best, to finish last. *ANZ
