Serene Majesty settled nicely back in sixth place, one off the rails, behind a reasonably sound tempo (first 800m 48.38) before making a move and switching deep on turning for home. She then sprinted well to challenge at the 100m and kept finishing gamely for a narrow but very good win. The favourite Spill The Beans travelled well in front, was under pressure from the 200m but kept lifting well, only being headed in the last few strides for a close second. Kimberley Star was back in second last place in the nine-horse field, went wide on straightening and continued to finish well for a most encouraging third.
