Godolphin-race colt Toga Picta did well in winning here on debut, albeit in a three-way finish. He was slowly away and settled in fifth place one off the rails behind a good tempo. He set out after the leaders nearing the home turn, going deep (under riding) nearing the home turn, went to third on straightening and then kept running on to grab victory on the post. He should improve and seems suited to further. The Man raced outside the leader (The Mission), put pressure on that runner well before the home turn, got the upper hand at the 50m only to be caught on the post for second while The Mission led until halfway down the straight and held on to take the minor placing. The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Coulthard caught the eye running on late for (0.9 lengths) fourth, going well on debut.
