Nine-year-old gelding Destiny’s Kiss clearly retains his zest for racing, making light of his 59kg top weight in scoring his 16th win (his seven at stakes level) from 71 starts here. He settled nicely for Hugh Bowman in seventh place on the rails, continued along the inner nearing the home turn, switched out on straightening, challenged at the 100m and then finished too well in a solid staying effort to score. It was also an excellent ride by Bowman. The Getaway raced in last place in the eighthorse field to the home turn, where he went deep. He then put in a good run, challenged at the 100m and battled well for second, just finding the winner (whom conceded him 5kg) too good. The favourite Sayed was wide early on before moving up to race outside the leader (Singing), travelling at a solid tempo. He got to the front on straightening and then fought on well for a close-up third, in a sound effort after working for most of the race.
