J Swap Contractors Sprint (LR)

WT: 53kg Type: OPEN

This Listed 1400m was run at a solid clip and saw an all run on finish unsurprisingly with Natuzzi showing his class over a luckless Tavy, Natuzzi had his best pilot atop today in Chris Johnson and the big sprinter just runs for him better than anyone else. He sat back last then and crept forward wider near the home turn before unleashing that trademark surge to lead inside the final 100m. It was the tenth win in thirty-three starts for the now 7yo so his strike rate is good for such a well-travelled galloper. He clocked 1:22 to win by half a length. Tavy was a tad stiff after settling second last then finding herself last nearing the home turn in a precarious position. Once drawn to the outside and into clear air she unleashed a furious finish. Mosse ran a super third as he did it at both ends in some respects after sharing the lead (not a usual role at all) for the first 500m then being headed. He lost his position and after turning for home seventh then surged through one-off and led at the 200m only to be outfinished the closing stages. It was a very good run in its entirety. Gustavo was a brave fifth beaten less than a length as he was trapped wide handy throughout and only lost third money on the post. He will measure up this summer and autumn in perhaps the highest grade based on this effort. Miss Foxwood kept coming well from worse than the midfield once into clear air while Irish Beat after being fifth or sixth loomed likely at the 200m before wilting a tad to finish sixth beaten less than two lengths. Bechtolsheimer was not too bad while the pacemakers or forcers Black Mascara and Tomorrowland ran third last and last respectively. Tomorrowland stopped badly to be a distant last and was a mere shadow of the horse that had won his lead up race easily. Class mattered today with Natuzzi in a race run to suit and a rider atop he runs best for at any level. Tavy was good and she can win a decent handicap race this season or something serious against her own sex. Mosse could be back near his best based on such a super run today while Gustavo threw his hat in the ring as worthy of being in stakes class from now on. Miss Foxwood can snare a decent event at handicap level or against her own sex as she likes solidly run races. Forgive the effort of Black Mascara and be wary about Tomorrowland as he can form reverse from one extreme to another.
