Cal Isuzu Stakes (G2)

Sex: FM Type: OPEN

The G2 mile for fillies and mares saw an expected on pacer win as favourite but she actually came from the back to score. Stolen Dance is versatile so can be ridden back or forward but having led and won her prior outing at G2 there was a slight gasp when she settled back and wide early. The decision whether by accident or deliberate was the key factor as the eventual finish saw the top three all run on mares from the back. Stolen Dance unleashed faster than anything else and blew on by her rivals to lead at the 150m to score by half a length in 1:34.25. It was her eighth win in twelve starts and boy does she love a mile having won seven of eight runs at the trip with the other effort recording a second. Pipi Beel stomped home hard from last for second and she showed at just her seventh start some big races are beckoning this season as she is more a middle distance mare. Rasa Lila ran on well for third and the first mare home that sat handy was Consensus, which trailed the leaders to the home turn. Ultraviolet is a winner in waiting after going another good race and Irion deserves mention too after being a brave sixth. Procurement led but had to repel some company so can be forgiven. Celebrity Miss was not that bad considering she was coming back from 3200m last time out. Kisses was uber-brave as she was at times four-wide working and is just a decent draw away from another win. Charmont was disappointing but after an average start got booted through handy only to lose her position, so she deserves another chance and middle distance may suit her best now. Forget that Arrow In The Sand went around as she is a closer and was attacking for the lead then wide handy for much of the race. Tie Me Down was poor but is much better than that so must have had an issue.
