This Listed event over 2500m for 3yo and 4yo gallopers saw a big form reversal and Jacksstar winning by half a head in 2:38.09. The 4yo gelding had finished last of eleven runners prior in the lead up event to this and carried the same weight today but scored today against a stronger line up. He sat eighth the inner but unleashed to lead at the 200m and record his third win in seventeen starts and he can clearly stay plus is able to swim being by a wet weather sire. The 3yo Five To Midnight just missed victory after being fifth or sixth the inner and kept coming well to the line. Hiique, also a 3yo, fought hard for third after being close throughout and looks a lightly tried stayer of promise. He’s No Saint was the eyecatching surge for fourth after settling down last and the 4yo is a stayer with scope. What A Diva trailed the leaders the whole way and fought on well but had every chance to be fair. Midnight Flyer was wide before settling handy and boxed on okay all things considered. Arya plugged closer from the back while the clear favourite Saint Emillion over-raced in front and stopped once headed at the 300m. Chequered Flag was just fair while the rest disappointed with Jonquil and Michelin in particular poor. Not an overly strong St Leger but it did see at least some stamina types for next season and certainly no shortage of wet trackers.
