AFL: Cats look to bounce back

3 minute read

Geelong will be keen to bounce back from their first defeat of the season when they take on Port Adelaide on Friday night.

There are two big games to look forward to with high-flying Sydney also in action when they travel to the west to take on Fremantle.

Geelong can be backed at 5.50 to go on and win the 2024 grand final, and it is important they do not let last week's loss to Melbourne derail them.

Sydney are the hot fancies at 5.00 to go all the way, and like Geelong, have lost just one game this season.

However taking on a Dockers side that sit 5-3 for the season will be another test of their premiership credentials.

Fremantle are in sixth, and can be backed at 6.50 to finish in the top four and earn a double shot in finals.

Cats need a response

. What: Geelong v Port Adelaide
. Where: GMHBA Stadium, Geelong
. When: 19:10 (AEST), Friday 10th May 2024
. How to watch: Kayo, Foxtel
. Odds: Geelong 1.28, Port Adelaide 3.75

Geelong had a rare off day when losing to Melbourne last weekend, but the margin was just eight points, and the game could have gone either way.

Indeed had Geelong's big guns stepped up to the plate, they probably would have won the game against the Demons.

Jeremy Cameron and Tom Hawkins both drew a blank in front of goal and will be determined to bounce back.

Cameron can be backed at 9.00 to kick the first goal of the game, while he is 1.06 to score at anytime.

The Cats have also beaten Port in each of the last nine games at GMHBA Stadium by an average margin of 42 points.

Chris Scott's men can be backed at 6.50 to win by 37-48 points on Friday night.

Port Adelaide have suffered a dip in form, losing their last two games, and now would be a good time to snap their disastrous streak at Geelong.

Dockers out to down Sydney

. What: Fremantle v Sydney
. Where: Optus Stadium, Perth
. When: 20:20 (AEST), Friday 10th May 2024
. How to watch: Kayo, Foxtel, Channel 7
. Odds: Fremantle 2.15, Sydney 1.72

Fremantle have bounced back well from the derby defeat against West Coast to win their next two games against Western Bulldogs and Richmond Tigers.

The Swans will be a big test, but they have shown already this season they can step up to the plate against the top sides.

They ran both Port Adelaide and Carlton close and it could be another tight game at Optus Stadium.

Freo can be backed at 5.50 to come out on top by 1-12 points, but the Swans do have a good record in the west when winning the last two.

They won by 29 points there last season and are 7.00 to win by 25-36 on this occasion.

Perth-born Logan McDonald will be out to shine on home soil and has been in good form when kicking on average one goal a game this season.

He can be backed at 11.00 to kick the first goal of the game, or 1.17 to score at any time.
