NRL: Big guns back for Roosters

3 minute read

Sydney Roosters will welcome back a host of key players as they look to make it three wins on the bounce against the New Zealand Warriors.

The Roosters have been in good form when seeing off the Brisbane Broncos and Dragons over the last two weeks and will be keen to keep the good times rolling.

They can be backed at 6.00 to go on and win the 2024 grand final and have the squad to do it if they can stay fit and healthy.

There were high hopes for the Warriors heading into the new season following an impressive 2023, but it has not gone according to plan so far.

They have won just three games, and at this rate they will do well to make the top eight and play finals.

Andrew Webster's men are in need of a win, but it does not get much tougher than the Roosters at Allianz.

. What: Sydney Roosters v New Zealand Warriors
. Where: Allianz Stadium, Sydney
. When: 14:00 (AEST), Sunday 12th May 2024
. How to watch: Kayo, Foxtel
. Odds: Sydney Roosters 1.23, New Zealand Warriors 4.20

Roosters welcome back key quartet

The Roosters are going well after scoring a total of 100 points in the last two games, and the team sheet will be even stronger against the Warriors.

Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, Daniel Tupou, Victor Radley and Spencer Leniu are all expected to return to give Trent Robinson a nice selection headache.

Connor Watson has been outstanding at lock, but will move to the interchange with Radley back fit and available.

The return of Tupou from a knee injury is also a huge boost and he can be backed at 6.50 to score the first try of the game, or 1.75 to score at anytime.

Joseph Manu is also in form with five tries in the last four games at Allianz, and is priced at 2.50 to get another at anytime.

The Roosters won this fixture by eight points last season, but the way they have been piling on the points recently, they will be hoping for a bigger margin this time.

They can be backed at 6.00 to win by 16-20.

Warriors in need of a boost

The Warriors have not won in the last four attempts and desperately need something to go their way in Sydney.

They lost by six points in Newcastle last week, and by three points against the Titans the week before, so they are not being played off the park.

Even so, they have let their standards slip this season and will be keen to get back on track.

It will be far from easy though and their record against the Roosters is also poor, losing each of the last seven meetings.

Their hopes have also been hit after second-rower Kurt Capewell was ruled out with a calf injury.

If they are to win, it will be tight, and they can be backed at 5.50 to win by 1-12 points.

Dallin Watene-Zelezniak always remains a massive threat and the winger is priced at 2.30 to score a try at anytime.
