Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for May 8.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Warwick Farm, Sandown, Eagle Farm, Gawler and Ascot.
WARWICK FARM: RACE 6 @ 3:45 PM
HUESCA (1) stepped up to Saturday company and did a good job to finish third last start over 1300m at Rosehill. All his wins have come on rain affected ground. Has his share of weight but he should roll along near the lead and prove tough to catch against this opposition. CONVINCEBILITY (2) led but folded up in the Provincial Championship Final last time out over 1400m at Randwick. Back in his right race today so expect him to turn things around. THE LITTLE PUMPER (3) is back after a six-month spell. Mixed it with better types last prep and wasn't disgraced. Unproven in heavy going but if he gets through it a big return is on the cards. COOL LAD (12) did his best work late but was never a threat first-up over 1200m at Gosford. Capable of sharp improvement. BULLY FOR YOU (10) loves it wet and is worth an each-way investment.

SANDOWN-HILLSIDE: RACE 5 @ 2:45 PM
NOBLE CONQUEROR (8) doesn't boast the best strike rate but looks well placed in this. Three runs last preparation in Sydney were good against quality opposition, running third behind two sharp sprinters at Rosehill before a spell. He's won a jump out leading in and D Lane takes the ride. GALLANT PRINCE (4) went to the paddock a maiden winner and resumed with an easy victory at this level at Pakenham. No reason he can't go on with the job here. SCORCH (10) has run second in both runs back from a spell and a win looks close. The form around him is strong for this. VOMO ISLAND (14) can run well.
SELECTIONS: Noble Conqueror to win.
EAGLE FARM: RACE 6 @ 2:53 PM
Heathcote-trained FLYWHEEL (4) spiked his figures missing a nose at Ipswich and then again beaten 3.4L in the Listed Daybreak Lover here. It was a commendable effort from a wide barrier. He's suited and rates to break through. Ciaron Maher has switched ONE COMMAND (7) from his Sydney barn and has a solid foundation for this contest. He will likely push forward and Maloney is a positive jockey engagement. ROSSO LEVANTO (12) settled last and was beaten a whisker at Rockhampton on debut. Draws awkwardly again but that's offset to an extent by Orman's booking. She's in a sharp yard and will keep improving. SKIEDA (13) peaks off a nose defeat at Toowoomba and was even better beaten 2.2L at Doomben prior. Maps for a soft run and she can't be ruled out.

GAWLER: RACE 4 @ 2:25 PM
CHOSEN MISS (1) was a dominant winner over a similar trip two back at Balaklava and then followed it up with a solid chase into the placings at Strathalbyn last time. Ticking along nicely and only has to hold her form to prove very hard to beat. TEMBU BOY (2) wasn't far away two back on the Parks track in a tougher grade, despite finishing seventh. Not as effective last start but can bounce back. SESAR (6) was doing his best work late here last start when finishing in the frame. Goes well over this track and trip and is among the main chances. WARRANDYTE ROAD (9) next best.
SELECTIONS: Chosen Miss to win.
ASCOT: RACE 5 @ 3:49 PM
MASAMUNE (1) contested some strong races last campaign, before finally knocking off his maiden prior to a spell. He looks in good order judging by his recent trial and he draws nicely for CJP. Can be prominent in the run and if he runs up to what he did last prep, he should be winning. WEAPONIZE (2) only had two starts last campaign in a relatively inconclusive preparation. He'll be fitter for a trial coming into this and Steve Parnham sticks from that trial. His best form is good enough, he just needs to be at that level first-up. TWIGGER (3) showed plenty of talent in his debut campaign and comes into this without a public trial. Pike strikes at 14% when riding for Luciani and he creates plenty of interest first-up today. ROCKING GEM (7) went close first-up and can be in the mix second-up with improvement anticipated. ROMMING DANGER (6) looked good in a recent trial and is not to be discounted.
