Gai Waterhouse-trained colt Kiss And Make Up scored a promising debut win. He began well from his outside barrier (8) and settled outside the leader (Viatrix), travelling at a moderate pace. He went to the front on straightening, fought back particularly well when challenged and appeared to win with something in hand. Detective raced behind the leader, was blocked in the straight until getting a split at the 100m. He challenged shortly afterwards but was held by the winner, battling on for a sound second, his third such placing in three starts to date. Star Of Monsoon raced in fourth place, one out and one back, moved up three wide rounding the home turn, challenged at the 200m and kept fighting on for a close-up third.
