Godolphin-raced three-year-old Chetwood, having his first race start, created quite an impression in scoring here. He began well from his outside barrier (9) but he had to work in the early stages (first 600m in a fast 33.75) before crossing to the lead. He grabbed a break on turning for home and then drew away to win easily in a most impressive debut performance. Team Hawkes-trained filly Ameristralia went to the front from her good barrier (1) but after being pressured eased to race in second place from the 700m. She then kept battling on well in the straight for a good first-up second, although outclassed by the winner.
