Schweppes Mdn Plate
Acatour, a colt from the Peter and Paul Snowden stable, scored an impressive debut win. He did now show much early pace and settled back in seventh place, behind a good tempo, and remained there until the home turn. He got between runners on straightening, eased across heels at the 200m and then dashed home to win easily. He should appreciate further and looks a colt with a very bright future. The Team Hawkes-trained colt Palladian, had a nice trip in third place on the rails, got through to take the lead at the 200m and looked the winner, but he had no chance with the lateclosing winner, holding on for a good second, also on debut. Vasiliev was fourth, one out and one back, challenged on turning for home and then battled on soundly for third, on debut. Godolphin’s Archi Baba led but was pressured mid-race and tired on passing the 200m to finish (2.6 lengths) fourth.
