Into the short Caulfield straight he went wide, found a gap and thrust through, emerging from the pack inside the 200m and taking over with a 100m to go to win well by a length. Miss Strathallan was wide at the 600m and widest turning in but kept up a strong gallop to grab second just short of the post. Perthesia led turning in, broke clear but was gathered in by the winner at the 100m and at the 50m by Miss Strathallan. Bint El Bedu had every chance and battled into a distant fourth.
