Analysis: The consistent New Zealand three-year-old Platinum Kingdom was quickly away being with the leaders early before easing to settle fourth one out and one back. He became hemmed in at the 600m, pushed out on straightening and challenged at the 200m, drawing clear shortly after and going on to win well by three quarters length. Boban was well away then eased to be sixth on the rails. He was blocked on turning for home but got into the clear at the 200m and then fought on gamely for a good second. Academus was eased to be about sixth early before improving wide with cover at the 600m. He was giving the leader about six lengths on straightening and kept running on well for a good third, beaten only half length. Complicate was quickly away from his wide barrier (14) and worked to the lead at the 900m. He then led the field to the 150m and battled on well for fourth, beaten only one length. Lilliburlero began well but was trapped wide. She improved to fifth, three wide without cover from the 800m and challenged (wide out) at the turn. She then held on very well for a good first-up fifth. Sizzling was midfield on the rails but was shuffled back nearing the home turn.
