Fontein Ruby was taken forward in the early stages by Mark Zahra and tracked three wide to hit the front and break a couple of lengths clear as the field hit the turn. The filly made her way across to the fence and stole first run in the straight as Pittsburgh Flyer loomed up ominously on her outside. The latter found little for pressure, however and it was Maastricht who took up second place, coming from out of the pack. Crafty flew home from the rear in the closing stages making up some three to four lengths on the principals in rapid time but ran out of track and ultimately could manage only third.
