Fabrizio began well and Luke Nolen then eased him to settle nicely in third place (on the rails), behind a good tempo. He got through to challenge nearing the home turn, took the lead on straightening and then raced way to score a most impressive win. Tucanchoo settled midfield, one off the rails, got between runners on turning for home, went to second at the 200m and then fought on to hold that position, having no chance with the winner. Desert Jeuney settled near last in the 16-horse field from his wide barrier (12), went between runners on straightening and kept running on nicely to take the minor placing.
