Limes was quickly away but eased and settled fifth on the rails. He switched to be one off the rails nearing the turn but was held up for run in the straight until the 200m. He then ran on well, getting up to win by a head at the post. Boban was second last in the nine-horse field to the 600m. He went to the centre of the track on straightening and came with a late run to fail by a head in finishing second. Ashokan was second early then raced outside the leader (Complicate). He challenged at the home turn and fought on gamely to figure in a three way photo before finishing a close third. Platinium Kingdom was handy on the rails and got through to be behind the leader (Complicate) nearing the turn. However, he never really found a clear run in the straight and held on for a close fourth, beaten about half a length. The favourite Complicate was smartly away and led to the 200m mark. He was disappointing in the closing stages, finishing fifth, even though he was beaten less than a length at the post. *ANZ
