Don’t Doubt Mamma maintained her good form, now winning two of her three runs this preparation. She was ridden quietly and settled back in second last place in the nine-horse field before tracking up well on passing the 600m. She fanned deep at the home turn and then produced her renowned finishing sprint to grab an impressive win in the closing stages. Kaniana raced in fifth place, moved up to be outside the leader (Miss Rose De Lago) at the 800m, got to a narrow lead at the 50m but could not hold of the late-closing winner to take a good second after her early efforts. Miss Rose De Lago went to the front, set a reasonable tempo (first 1000m 62.74) before picking up the tempo from the 800m. She held the lead until the 100m and then battled on quite well for third after seeming to have every chance. Rising Romance settled in seventh place, improved to fifth (wide) from the 800m. She was under pressure nearing the home turn and then kept fighting on to dead-heat for fourth, beaten 2.4 lengths. C’Est Beau La Vie had a nice trip in fourth place, moved up nicely nearing the home turn and battled well to dead-heat for fourth.
