Eurozone was first away and he went straight to the lead. He then set a reasonable tempo (first 600m 36.55) staying well away from the inside rails most of the way. He was challenged mid-stretch but the stylish colt fought gamely and he drew away in the closing stages to win by just over a length. He has now raced three times for as many wins and is a classy colt. Dissident was eased from his outside barrier (8) and raced in last place most of the way in the eight-horse field to the 600m. He stuck to the rails rounding the home turn, put in a strong challenge at the 200m and then fought on particularly well for a good first-up second. Dowdstown Charlie was slowly away and was last early on. He was second last at 600m, went to the inside (as the field fanned wide) at the turn and then kept battling on along the rails for a good third. Bull Point was again slowly away and was second last to leave the barrier but he was urged to improve from his good barrier (2) and drove through to settle fourth on the rails. He went to the inside on turning for home, challenged at the 200m and then battled on for fourth, beaten two lengths. The well-performed filly Watabout raced in third place (wide out) to the turn, but disappointed after a difficult trip, tiring to finish last in the eight-horse field. *ANZ
