The well-supported Barbed scored well, making it two wins from as many starts. He was eased from his outside barrier (8) and raced in second last place in the eight-horse field to the 600m. He got a nice split between runners rounding the home turn and moved to third at the 300m. He then switched to the rails, hit the lead at the 100m and fought on very well to score a narrow but impressive win. He is a progressive three-year-old. Diamond Oasis had a good trip in fourth spot one off the rails, before moving up nicely to challenge at the 200m. He then battled on strongly for a good second, beaten only a short neck. Whittington travelled well in second place to the turn. He challenged at the 200m and then battled on gamely for a close third. Va Pensiero was back in fifth place, three wide, before moving up wide rounding the home turn. He continued to run on well with his top weight (58.5kg) for a sound fourth. I’m All The Talk showed his customary speed, leading the field to the 200m before tiring for sixth. *ANZ
