Dissident went forward from his wide barrier (12) and gradually crossed to take the lead. He had a lot of challengers from the 300m point, but he kept fighting gamely to score a narrow but gutsy win. El Roca also went forward from a difficult barrier (13) to settle in third place, one off the rails. He looked the winner when he challenged at the 200m, but the winner fought back a bit too well and he battled on nicely for a close second. Eurozone was quickly away then eased to race in sixth place, one off the rails. He moved up (three deep) at the 600m, looked a threat at the 200m but then kept fighting on for third. Teronado was in front of only three nearing the 600m, was blocked at the 300m and then ran on quite well for fourth, beaten a length and three quarters. Hooked was fourth on the rails and held on nicely to finish fifth while Atlante was seventh, one off the rails, to the 600m and held on for sixth. *ANZ
