Cosmic Endeavour began well and soon crossed from her wide barrier (9) to take the lead. She then travelled strongly in front, moved clear at the 300m and went on to score by two lengths, putting up a smart front-running performance. Avoid Lightning was ridden quietly and remained back in 11th place to the 600m. She was still well back on straightening, and was held up between runners until she got a split at the 200m. She then made good ground, getting up to take second nearing the post. Belle De Coeur settled fourth on the rails from her good barrier (2) and remained there to the home turn. She got an inside run at the 300m and fought on quite well for third. Equal favourite Plucky Belle was eighth between runners, got a split in the centre at the 200m and ran on fairly well for fourth, beaten three lengths. The other equal favourite Peron was trapped very wide from her outside barrier (12) racing in tenth place in a packed field to the home turn. She then battled on in the straight for (5.2 lengths) eighth after a difficult trip. *ANZ
