Terravista scored a smart first-up win, his seventh win from only ten starts to date. He was ridden quietly by Hugh Bowman and travelled well in fourth place (three wide) in a race run in a solid shower of rain. He moved up well to take the lead at the 200m and then dashed clear to win easily by two lengths, relishing the Heavy9 conditions. In Cahoots was a handy third (without cover) before moving up at the home turn. He challenged at the 200m and then fought on quite well for second, having no chance with the winner. Bull Point was sixth between runners to the turn. He commenced a run at the 200m and ran on fairly well to grab third nearing the post in a sound first-up effort. Monton was back in fifth place on the rails, moved through on the inside at the 300m and battled on for (2.7 lengths) fourth. Moriarty was past midfield and wide before making some late ground for (3.4 lengths) fifth in an encouraging first-up effort over 1200m, which is well short of his preferred distance. Oakfield Commands led to the home turn before finishing (3.5 lengths) sixth while Ninth Legion raced outside that horse in second place to the turn before finishing (4.6 lengths) seventh in his first run since April. *ANZ
