Rebel Dane was a little slow to move and settled midfield, three wide with cover. He was about six lengths from the leader as he started to improve at the 600m. He fanned wide at the turn, put in a good run to challenge and the 200m and then drew clear from the 100m for an impressive first-up win. Title raced in third place on the rails, switched across heels on turning for home, challenged at the 200m and then kept fighting on for a good second. Norzita raced near the rear, three wide with cover. She was about eight lengths from the leader at the 600m, switched very wide at the home turn and ran on particularly well for a late-closing third. It was an impressive first-up performance from the dual Group One winning mare. Malavio began well from his outside barrier (14) and showed good pace to settle outside the leader. He put in a good run at the 200m and continued to fight on nicely for sound first-up fourth. Ichihara began quickly and crossed from her wide barrier to lead. She then led the field to the 200m and held on for a good fifth, beaten just under three lengths. Knight Exemplar was a handy fourth and held on quite well for sixth while the well-performed Queenslander Sizzling came from near last, and a wide trip, for a late-finishing three lengths seventh.
