Junoob returned to form back on firm ground leading throughout and proving far the better in the run to the post. Blake Shinn took the initiative aboard the European import electing to take Junoob to the front in the early stages. He rated him well on the front end prior to increasing the tempo approaching the 600m. Criterion challenged at the 300m but Junoob pulled away over the 200m drawing away to most comfortable victory. Criterion enjoyed a nice run in the race in second position. He ranged up at the 300m and briefly challenged the leader. He died on his run a little and stayed on for second, an improved effort up in distance. Bagman settled down in last position pulling hard in the middle stages due to the slow pace. He was still last on turning for home and taken back towards the fence. He stayed on well between runners to grab third right on the line. It was a good effort considering the slow early pace and how much ground he was asked to make up in the straight. La Amistad raced in fourth position on the fence about five lengths from the leader. She over raced a little in middle stage of the race and was shuffled back to second lack on the fence at the 800m. She was brought three and four wide on turning for home and stayed on gamely at one pace on the outside to grab fourth on the line. A post race veterinary examination revealed that La Amistad had been galloped on in her off hind.
