Appearance settled about seventh one off the rails following a solid pace. She was still at least six lengths from the leader (Steps In Time) at the turn, where she switched out wide to make her run, to challenge strongly at the 100m then win narrowly in an exciting three-way photo. Red Tracer was fourth on the rails, enjoying a good trip in a quickly run event. She looked the winner when she got to the lead at the 100m only to be grabbed on the post. Norzita was a distant ninth to the turn, went to the centre of the track at the 200m and ran on strongly to finish the closest of thirds. Steps In Time gradually worked across from her wide barrier (14) to lead and then ran along at a strong gallop, only wilting in the closing stages for a close up fourth. In was a very good performance. Zurella ran on well, without looking a winning threat, making good ground for a sound fifth (beaten about a length) while Driefontein ran her usual very honest race putting up a good effort for a most creditable sixth. *ANZ
