Top class colt Pierro made it ten wins from 12 starts winning this Group One event, his fourth at that level. He had a good run third on the rails, challenged at the 300m, drew clear at the 150m and fought strongly to the line to win in quick time. His stablemate More Joyous was sixth on the rails to the 600m, got a nice run through at the turn, going to third at the 200m. She ran on gamely for a great first-up second, beaten three quarters length at the post. Solzhenitsyn was one out and one back to the 600m, seemed to lose ground on the home turn and ran on again for a solid third. Rain Affair set a good pace, turned for home with a clear break and only tired from the 200m for a sound first-up fourth, beaten three lengths. The second favourite Moment Of Change ($4) raced outside the leader (Rain Affair) but dropped out on straightening, racing well below his best to finish last of the ten runners. *ANZ
