Peter Moody-trained filly Bring Me The Maid followed up her good Victorian form and an impressive late-closing win that takes her into next Saturday’s Golden Slipper Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) field. She was a little slow to move from her wide barrier (10) and settled near last, but wide with cover. She was giving the leader about eight lengths passing the 600m, switched deep shortly after straightening and came with a strong finishing burst to win by a neck, going away. She is a smart filly. Peggy Jean was slowly away and was last in the 15-horse field to the 600m point. She went to the inside at the 300m, challenged strongly at the 50m and fought on for second. It was a smart effort from this stylish looking filly. Sultry Feeling was fourth on the rails to the turn, put in a good run to challenge at the 200m and fought on nicely to get third in a photo from the Gai Waterhouse-trained filly Donelle. The latter was smartly away from her inside barrier (1) and showed good pace to lead. She looked the winner when she grabbed a break at the 300m but tired in the latter stages for fourth, beaten a length and a half. Clifton Red did not show much early pace and settled just past midfield and remained there to the home turn. She got a split in the centre at the 200m and kept finishing on for a sound two and a half lengths fifth, looking suited to further. *ANZ
