Rock Sturdy enjoyed a lovely run, sixth on the fence about four lengths from the leader Jetset Lad. He switched off the fence on cornering before securing a run four wide on the point of the bend. He then came with a big finish on the outside and drew away to score with plenty in reserve. An impressive effort by a rapidly improving horse. Ninth Legion was away well from his wide barrier and forced to work early to try and cross to lead. He ended up settling on the quarters of Jetset Lad who set a decent pace in front. Ninth Legion pressed the leader on turning for home, momentarily hitting the front at the 300m and then battled on gamely to dead-heat for second. Liberty’s Choice crossed from his wide barrier, with Ninth Legion settling in third position on that horse’s back, one out one back. He turned for home three wide and raced up to take the lead at the 200m. He flattened out on his run and worked home at one pace to dead-heat for second. Best Case closed strongly from third last between horses on turning for home. He was held up in the straight, coming between horses late and finished powerfully for an eye-catching fourth.
