Sir Moments put a really good effort in scoring here under his top weight (59.5kg), his ninth win, his sixth at stakes level, in 26 starts. He was slow to move, recovered from his good barrier (4) to settle in eighth place, between runners. Damian Browne got him along the rails from the 600m to challenge shortly after straightening. He got to the front at the 200m and then fought back gamely for a narrow but very good win. Flamboyer was smartly away from his wide barrier (11) and soon worked to the front. He then travelled well, lifted gamely after being headed at the 200m and then battled well for a good second, just finding the winner, whom conceded him 5.5kg, too good. In His Stride raced in eighth place, switched into clear running at the 300m and then finished well for a close-up third.
