Godolphin’s colt Old North was impressive in scoring here and he is now the winner of his past two starts after taking out a Three-Year-Old (C&G) Maiden Plate (1400m) at Randwick on 1 January at his third race start. He did not show much early pace and settled just beyond midfield in the 12-horse field. He was under riding coming to the home turn, where he switched deep, he challenged strongly on passing the 200m, hit the front at the 75m and went on to win easily, with his ears pricked. He looks suited to further and is a horse to watch.
