This meeting was abandoned from the Saturday prior and re-scheduled today midweek on a still testing wet track that suited swimmers. This was not a very strong Listed 3yo filly only event over 1200m at all and saw an easy winner in Dijon Bleu that was second up. She was second last away then improved between runners keenly to reach fourth and was jogging across the top before moving up third turning for home. She is by a deadest wet weather sire and after taking the lead at the 250m swam clear to score by four and a half lengths in 1:16.89. The time was not bad as the Open Handicap that was held prior was won by a proven class act in 1:16.57, so Dijon Bleu was about two lengths inferior. It was the second win in five starts for Dijon Bleu and her first piece of blacktype earned. Blanco Belle won easily on debut and beat nothing much but could handle the rise to Listed class, albeit suspect in depth today, to run on well from fourth or fifth the inside. Style By Design fought on for a distant third after settling down in the rear duo. The rest got beaten almost eight lengths and up to a dozen lengths so the two last home being maidens would win back to their proper grade. Nuclear Fusion the favourite once last away was never in it and though plugging on late was beaten too far to excuse. She needs to jumps on terms and usually does but today it was a shocker. Weak field and the winner is the only runner that can go on with it as she obliterated these and even factoring in a bad wet track the gap was too great to ignore. Better footing might see the placings alter but in all likelihood the winner would still win and whether there is any Group quality in this looks debatable.
