Australian Racing: Investment to pay off at Hawkesbury

3 minute read

There are three meetings set to take place on Tuesday, including at Hawkesbury where an eight-race card is scheduled.

Action is also scheduled at Moe, also an eight-race offering, and Rockhampton, where they go to post six times.

Race 6 Hawkesbury

Race 4 Rockhampton

Toy Blaze @ 6.50

Race 4 Moe

Maid In Dubai @ 2.30

Investment looks good at Hawkesbury

The sixth race of the day at Hawkesbury is an interesting 1500m Class 1 handicap contest.

A heavy 9 track is expected for the race, with the Michael, Wayne & John Hawkes-trained Allapercanto expected to jump as favourite.

The three-year-old registered a good third in a 1300m Benchmark 64 handicap when racing on the Hillside track at Sandown when racing first up this prep.

While outclassed having jumped at $51 when finishing down the field in the Listed Bendigo Guineas subsequently, she delivered a better effort last time out.

That latest effort saw her finish a close fourth in a 1550m Benchmark 64 handicap at Randwick Kensington 25th April.

However, her ability to handle the testing conditions forecast here has to be taken on trust and with that in mind investment is preferred.

Joseph Pride's filly has made just the four race starts to date, with those including a down the field effort over 1200m at Warwick Farm on debut in September.

The 6.50 pick has demonstrated improvement this prep, however, including when resuming with a good fourth in a 1400m maiden at Newcastle in March.

The filly raced on a good 4 track at Newcastle, but has since raced twice on a heavy 8 track, including when narrowly beaten in finishing second over 1400m at Kembla Grange.

The selection arrives here on the back of a half-length success in a maiden contest over 1600m at Gosford early last month.

The daughter of So You Think has been freshened since that Gosford success and is taken to complete a double.

Blaze to triumph at Rockhampton

The fourth race of the day at Rockhampton is a Restricted 55 handicap set to take place over 1050m.

Trainer Ricky Vale has his horses in good form at present and it's no surprise to see Sennaprost feature at the head of the market.

The five-year-old registered a length third when jumping at big odds for a 1300m Class 1 handicap at Wyong back in January.

That marked the gelding's best effort this prep and he has recorded fifth-place finishes on all three subsequent starts.

The most recent of those saw him freshened before finishing fifth in a 1200m Class 1 handicap at this venue last month.

An inside barrier is a positive in this contest, however Lynette Petersen's Toy Blazeis the pick.

The 6.50 selection recorded a couple of solid efforts when jumping at big odds here in her last prep, including when fifth in a 1400m Class 3 handicap at the start of December.

The daughter of Daunting Lad resumed this prep with a two-and-a-half-length victory when contesting a 1200m Benchmark 55 handicap at Thangool just over a month ago.

The five-year-old saw off 10 rivals that day and while she could finish only eighth in a similar race to this over this track and trip subsequently, she can be forgiven for that effort.

Morgan Butler's mount has won here in the past, having broken her maiden at this venue back in March last year and she looks capable of returning to the winners' enclosure.

Maid In Dubai to break maiden

Moe stage an eight-race card, with the fourth contest seeing the Peter Moody & Katherine Coleman-trained Maid In Dubai bid to break her maiden.

The selection showed plenty of ability when a length second over 1203m at Kyneton in November and she has registered a number of good efforts since.

The three-year-old has been beaten over one-and-a-half-lengths just once in four starts since that Kyneton place, including when fourth at Cranbourne in December.

The 2.30 pick was spelled following that effort and she resumed with a close-up fifth in a 1200m maiden at Mornington at the end of last month.

Will Price's mount has a fair barrier in seven and with that Mornington contest already producing a winner, she looks capable of recording her first win.
