Promising four-year-old Man Of His Word took his record to six wins in 18 starts in scoring his first stakes win here. He settled in settled back in second last place in the nine-horse field, behind a quick tempo (first 1000m 59.67). He stuck to the rails, got along the inner on straightening, took a split at the 100m and then dashed to the front before drawing clear to win quite impressively. It was also an excellent ride by Jeff Lloyd. Cylinder Beach settled in last place, went deep from the 600m, put in a solid run from the 200m but ran about a bit over the latter stages before taking a good second. Sweet Redemption went to the front, ran along at a quick pace, only tiring in the closing stages for a very good third considering her early efforts.
