Ploverset was away well from the gates and settled down in fifth position four wide without cover. She travelled well in the run and then responded to riding, picking up well over the final 200m to lunge late and grab her more experienced stablemate right on the line. This was a good debut win by a talented filly. Madeenaty ran another good race in defeat. She was away well from the gates and led on the flat side rail. She went clear at the 200m and looked to be travelling the best, but tired late on and could not fend off the late challenge of the winner closer to the middle of the track. Sam’s Image worked across from his wide barrier (8) to race on the outside of the leader on the flat side rail. He over-raced on the lead, getting his head up and racing intractably. He battled on strongly in the closing stages to finish a good third.
