In a close finish with about a half-length between the first six runners, the Robbie Griffiths-trained mare Deja Blue scored her seventh win and her first at stakes level in 21 starts here. She was quickly away from her wide barrier (13) and worked before settling outside the leader (Another Diamond). She got to the front at the 200m and then dug deep to score narrowly but well. Godolphin’s mare Ghisoni settled back in 12th place from her outside barrier (15), went widest of all at the home turn before coming with a strong, late run to just miss in a photo, staging a very smart effort in taking second. Crystal Fountain, previously unbeaten in four starts, settled in fifth place (one off the rails), moved up nicely at the home turn, challenged at the 200m and kept fighting well for a good third, stepping up in class here. The favourite Quilista raced in third place on the rails to the home turn but was in restricted room in the straight before finishing a close-up and unlucky fourth while Ellicazoom was handy all the way and held on for (0.5 lengths) fifth with Written Era an unlucky (0.6 lengths) sixth after being blocked when running on from 11th at the home turn.
