Daytona Grey, from barrier three, drifted early, settling second last on the rails. Approaching the turn, jockey Clare Lindop moved off and began threading through the field but on straightening had no racing room. Lindop wisely switched inwards, found space but ran into more traffic so had to swerve out and around the leaders seeming too late. Once into the clear the six-year-old bounded up and grabbed the lead a couple of strides from the line in a minor upset. I Am Gypsy was sixth approaching the turn, waited for a split into the straight and gradually hauled in the leaders and looked the winner until run down late. Pretty Possum led around the last corner and tried to break clear, was joined in the lead and had a narrow edge at the 50m then battled gamely to hold third.
