The Japanese mare Hana’s Goal was again slowly way, but she did not lose a lot of ground on this occasion. She then travelled along comfortably at the tail of the eight-horse field until the well into the straight. Nash Rawiller took her to the extreme outside at the 300m and she produced a great turn of foot to grab the lead on passing the 100m, she then dashed clear to score impressively by two lengths. French-bred gelding Weary was seventh to the 600m. He moved up (wide-out) rounding the home turn, but he took a while to wind-up, and although out-sprinted by the winner, he kept running on well to take second. Tiger Tees began well and led early before easing to race in second place. He took a rails run on turning for home, getting to narrow lead at the 200m before fighting on for third. Shamexpress had a good trip, fifth on the rails before moving through along the rails at the 300m to challenge strongly at the 200m. But he just battled from that point to finish 2.8 lengths fourth. The favourite Rebel Dane began well and raced in a handy spot, fifth one off the rails. He raced a bit keenly as the pace slacked nearing the 700m and then switch wide nearing the turn. He looked a threat as he moved up at the 300m but he failed to run on in the latter stages to finish 3.3 lengths fifth after seeming to have every chance. *ANZ
