SA-trained filly Go Indy Go settled in eighth place, one off the rails, in the ten-horse field. She switched wide (with cover) rounding the home turn, went to the extreme outside on straightening and showed a great turn of foot to hit the lead on passing the 100m. She then went on to score impressively by a length, running the 1600m out strongly. She is a smart filly with quite a future. Zululand raced outside the leader, took the lead at the 200m and then fought on in good style to hold second. Kumaon raced behind the leader, got an inside run to take the lead at the 300m and then battled on well for third. Scratch Me Lucky travelled well in fifth place on the rails, angled into the clear on straightening and the fought on quite well for 1.2 lengths fourth. The favourite Peggy Jean went back from her outside barrier (10) and raced in last place to the 600m. She moved up (very wide) rounding the home turn, put in a run at the 250m but just battled from that point to finish 4.4 lengths fifth. Veuvelicious was seventh, one off the rails, following a moderate early tempo. Damien Oliver looked for a run in the centre rounding the home turn. She got clear nearing the 200m and then steadily made ground for 5.6 lengths sixth. She will appreciate stepping up in distance and should make a good staying three-year-old filly next season. Bachman was sixth one off the rails but was under pressure at the home turn and he failed to run on in the straight to finish 8.9 lengths ninth. *ANZ
