The consistent Peter Gelagotis-trained gelding Moss ‘N’ Dale is now the winner of three of his last four starts and he did well in taking out his first stakes race in 21 starts here. He settled nicely back in third place, one off the rails, following a good tempo set by the leader (Jungle Edge). He then came with a well-timed run to challenge at the 200m before drawing clear to win well. The British-trained Fastnet Tempest, who was having his second start in this country, raced back in second last place in the 11-horse field, before going deep on rounding the home turn. He then sprinted well, challenged on passing the 200m but proved difficult to ride by hanging in and then battled on for a good second, his waywardness probably costing him success. Raw Impulse had a good trip from barrier two, racing back in fourth place on the rails. He got along the inner from the 200m and then fought on to hold the minor placing with Coldstone making ground for (5.2 lengths) fourth with the leader and top weight (60kg) Jungle Edge weakening for (5.4 lengths) fifth, seemingly tested by the 1600m trip.
